Civitai Alternatives 2026: Where NSFW Creators Go Now
In April 2026, Civitai.com was locked to PG content. The adult content did not disappear. It moved to a second site, civitai.red, where you opt in to see it and where generating NSFW images needs a Membership. If you are searching for Civitai alternatives, that split is why the question is back.
The options fall into three groups. Hosted sites with a model library include Tensor.Art and PixAI. A hosted adult image tool is HackAIGC. Free software you run yourself includes ComfyUI. Their adult-content rules differ a lot. Two familiar names, Mage.space and SeaArt, prohibit pornographic or non-G-rated content in the terms we read.
HackAIGC publishes this post, so we held every platform, our own included, to what its pages say as of 13 October 2026.
Why Are Creators Looking Beyond Civitai in 2026?
Creators are looking elsewhere because the way Civitai works for adult content changed. The main site no longer shows anything above PG, adult content sits on a second site, and NSFW generation there depends on a paid Membership. Each change adds a step that did not exist a year ago.
Civitai's own announcement is blunt about the cause. In its post about the two sites, the company says "we've lost every mainstream payment rail except crypto." The cause was payments, and it shaped the changes that followed.
For a creator, three things follow. You now choose between two domains. You may need a Membership to generate adult images on the new one. And rules that apply on one site may not apply on the other, which makes planning harder.
Creators who share work also feel the change. A rule that bans a type of image on one site changes where you can post it and who sees it. A payment method that works on one domain may not work on the other.
None of this means Civitai stopped working. Civitai.com is still there for PG content. Civitai's on-site generator guide, an older page whose latest changelog entry is dated November 2024, says logged-in users get a certain amount of free Buzz every 24 hours. It also says generating costs a small amount of Buzz. Check the current amounts before you rely on that, because the guide predates the split. The change matters most to people who generated or shared adult images there and now want the same freedom in a place with simpler rules.
How Did Civitai's Policies and Payments Change, Step by Step?
Civitai tightened its rules in stages, from new content rules in April 2025 to the two-site split in April 2026 and a terms update in October 2026. The order matters, because each step explains why the next one happened.
In April 2025, a Civitai article dated 23 April announced policy and content adjustments. It says "We're updating our policies to comply with increasing scrutiny around AI content." Sexualized content (X and XXX) must now include generation metadata, and "ToS violating content will be removed after 30 days."
In May 2025, a Civitai article dated 22 May said real-person likeness content was no longer permitted on the site. It tied the change to payment partners, calling it a requirement to continue talks with specialist payment partners.
The split came on 9 April 2026, when Civitai published "Two Front Doors." It describes civitai.com and civitai.red as separate front doors. The post says "Civitai.com is locked to PG content, so anything above that simply won't show up there." It describes Red as the place for "All NSFW content, crypto payments."
A week later, an update on the same article admitted the launch was rough: "We know it's been bumpy," and the team was working through issues as they surfaced.
The latest step is dated 6 October 2026, when a Civitai article announced a terms update that adds violence against minors to its prohibited list. The article describes changes to each site's terms.
Civitai ties two of these steps to payment pressure in its own words: the 2025 likeness rule and the 2026 split. Rules have changed more than once in a year, so keep copies of models and images you care about outside any single platform.
What Rules Apply to Adult Content on Civitai Now?
On civitai.com nothing above PG is shown. On civitai.red adult content is available, but you opt in to see it, and generating NSFW images there requires a Membership.
The announcement says NSFW posts show on Red "to people who've opted in," and that "Civitai.red lets you choose what you see." You use one login: "One account, both domains." There is no separate account for the second site.
Generating is where money comes in. Blue Buzz, the on-site currency, covers SFW generation on either site, "and NSFW gen on Red if you have a Membership." Red takes crypto payments. Memberships can only be bought on civitai.com for now.
Some rules do not change by site. Civitai's rules page says content based on the likeness of real people is prohibited, including public figures and private individuals. That page is on civitai.com, and it does not say whether civitai.red applies the same rule, so check before you assume it does. Civitai's own terms, last modified 6 October 2026, require users to be 18 and list "Pornography and other mature audience content" among prohibited material in Section 9.6. Those terms do not name civitai.red, so the Red rules above come from the announcement. Civitai's minors rule is just as firm. Its rules page says photorealistic images that could be mistaken for a real minor are strictly prohibited, and that violations carry a 0 strike policy.
Civitai also tags content automatically. Its safety page says every uploaded image gets AI content and moderation tagging, and that users can vote on labels.
If you used Civitai's image-to-image tools, note that Civitai's on-site generator guide describes a Denoise setting that controls how far a result drifts from your source image. The guide's latest changelog entry is from 2024, so it does not describe image-to-image on Red. Check the current generator before you plan a workflow around it.
Which Type of Platform Replaces Civitai Best?
No single type of Civitai alternative replaces everything Civitai offered. The best replacement depends on which part you used: the model library, the on-site generator, or the freedom to make adult images. Three types cover those needs.
Hosted model-library platforms let you run community checkpoints and LoRAs in the browser. Tensor.Art and PixAI work this way. You keep the library experience, but each platform sets its own adult-content rules, and those rules differ.
Hosted adult image tools skip the library and give you a generator. HackAIGC is one. You trade model choice for speed and a platform that allows adult content for adults, within its terms.
Local software puts everything on your own computer. ComfyUI and AUTOMATIC1111 load the checkpoints and LoRAs you download, and no platform policy applies to what you generate on your own machine. You pay in setup time and hardware.
If you used Civitai mainly as a library, a hosted library or local software fits. If you used it to generate, HackAIGC's NSFW image generator is the closer match. Tools that mix both approaches exist, but these three types cover most creators.
If you already hold a library of downloaded LoRAs, the type you pick decides how many of them you can use. HackAIGC has no LoRA feature yet. Local tools such as ComfyUI load LoRAs on your own machine. Hosted sites cap them: PixAI allows 5 to 15 LoRAs per generation task depending on the plan, and Mage.space allows 1 to 5 depending on the plan.
Before you move, check four things on any platform. Do its terms allow adult content for adults? Do adult images stay private, or can they be shared? How are credits or plans priced? Can you bring your own models?
A platform that fails the first check will not help however good the rest is. Write the answers down for two or three options, then compare them against how you work.
How Do the Main Civitai Alternatives Compare?
Tensor.Art, PixAI, HackAIGC and local tools are the realistic Civitai alternatives for adult work, while Mage.space, SeaArt and Hugging Face each carry limits. The table summarizes what each platform's own pages say, and the notes below add detail. Every cell comes from those pages. We did not generate images on each platform, so nothing here ranks output quality.
Platform | Adult content, per its own pages | Community models or LoRAs | Price seen on its pages |
HackAIGC | Terms permit "certain fictional adult-oriented content where lawful" | No LoRA support yet; you choose from its existing models | Free plan with 6 requests a day; Plus $20 for 3,000 credits |
"Strongly discourage" NSFW; tag system required | Yes, checkpoints, LoRA and LyCORIS | Pro plan $9.9 a month, per its Pro Membership announcement
PixAI | NSFW is private to the uploader and needs an over-18 setting | Yes, 5 to 15 LoRAs per task by plan | 10,000 free credits a day; paid from $7.99 a month billed annually |
Terms prohibit pornographic content | Yes, 1 to 5 LoRAs by plan | Paid from $10 a month, or pay per generation with Gems
SeaArt | Terms (version effective 19 July 2025) require G-rated images | LoRA training queue on higher paid plans | Beginner ₹573.70 a month, shown to a viewer in India |
Hugging Face | Content policy has a "Not For All Audiences" tag | Model hub for downloads | PRO $9 a month |
ComfyUI, AUTOMATIC1111 | No platform policy for local use | Yes, loads LoRAs | Free, open source |
Prices and policies were read on 13 October 2026. Read the table by column: the adult-content column decides whether a platform is usable for your work, and the price column only matters after that.
HackAIGC
Its pricing page lists a free Starter plan with 6 requests a day. It also lists a $20 Plus plan with 3,000 credits valid for one month. Plans are one-time payments with no auto-renewal.
Its terms permit fictional adult content where lawful and bar content involving minors or age ambiguity, and they bar sexually explicit content involving real people. Its terms set an 18+ rule.
HackAIGC also has an image-to-image tool. Its page says you can upload an image, add a prompt, and use modes such as "Full redraw (Img2Img), inpainting, outpainting, style transfer, and more." Settings include "strength (denoising), aspect ratio, resolution, and number of variations." The page says its models are "Regularly updated with the latest uncensored models (SDXL, Flux, Pony, etc.)".
You cannot upload your own models or LoRAs on HackAIGC. You choose from the models it already offers, and there is no LoRA feature yet. If your workflow depends on custom LoRAs, use a hosted library site or local software instead.
Tensor.Art
Its terms say "we strongly discourage users from posting, sharing, or spreading any content considered NSFW" and require you to use its tag system for graphic content. That is discouragement plus labeling, not a flat ban and not an invitation. Its terms of service also set an 18+ rule. Tensor.Art's Pro Membership announcement lists a monthly Pro plan at $9.9 with 1k bonus credits, a quarterly plan at $19.9 and a yearly plan at $59.9 after a 50% discount.
PixAI
PixAI's content guidelines say "Sensitive content is only visible to you and cannot be accessed by others." They also say NSFW content cannot be generated without the over-18 setting. Another line reads "Sensitive content created using realistic models is not allowed." So PixAI supports private adult generation, not public sharing. PixAI's membership page, last updated 10 October 2026, says the free plan gets 10,000 credits a day. A separate pricing guide lists Starter at $9.99 a month ($7.99 billed annually), Plus at $29.99 ($22.99) and Premium at $49.99 ($35.99). Higher tiers add bonus credits, free LoRA trainings and private model slots.
Mage.space
Mage's pricing shows a Basic plan at $10 a month and tiers up to $200 a month, with LoRA limits that rise by plan. Its terms and conditions prohibit pornographic content, so treat it as an SFW option.
SeaArt
The terms linked from its footer, in the version effective 19 July 2025, say "Do not attempt to create, upload, or share images that are not G-rated or that could cause harm." So we do not list it as an adult option. Its pricing page shows four plans in rupees to a viewer in India, from Beginner at ₹573.70 a month to Master at ₹14,365.46. Free Creation was not marked as included on the Beginner plan.
Hugging Face
Hugging Face describes itself as where "the machine learning community collaborates on models, datasets, and applications."
Its content policy lets repository owners tag content "Not For All Audiences" and restricts sexual content made without consent or involving minors. It does not say adult content is welcome, so do not read the tag as permission. Its pricing page lists PRO at $9 a month, with Team at $20 and Enterprise at $50 per user.
ComfyUI and AUTOMATIC1111
Both run on your own computer and load LoRAs. The ComfyUI system requirements recommend an NVIDIA or AMD GPU on Windows and also list Apple Silicon support. The AUTOMATIC1111 project says inference works with a 4GB video card. HackAIGC's own Stable Diffusion comparison covers the setup trade-offs in more depth.
Which Alternative Fits Which Creator?
The right pick depends on how you work.
If you want to keep browsing and running community models, start with Tensor.Art or PixAI. Both hold checkpoints and LoRAs, but plan for private or labeled adult work, and do not expect public sharing of explicit images.
If you want adult images fast and with no setup, HackAIGC fits, as long as you do not need your own LoRAs. It runs in the browser, has a free plan, and its terms spell out what is allowed. HackAIGC's roundup of NSFW art generators covers more tools if you want to compare further.
If you want full control and own a capable graphics card, run ComfyUI or AUTOMATIC1111 locally. No platform policy applies to local generation, though the law and your own judgment still do. HackAIGC also wrote a practical comparison of open-source and unrestricted AI for people deciding between the two paths.
If you only need SFW work, Civitai.com, Mage.space and SeaArt all fit, since their rules lean SFW.
Whichever you pick, read the current terms on the day you sign up. These policies have changed more than once in the past 18 months, and a platform with no readable terms page is a reason to look elsewhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did Civitai Get Rid of NSFW Content?
Civitai.com no longer shows NSFW content, but the company moved it rather than deleting it. Its April 2026 announcement says civitai.com is locked to PG content, and civitai.red carries "All NSFW content." Viewers opt in on Red, and generating NSFW images there needs a Membership. Memberships can only be bought on civitai.com for now, and Red takes crypto payments.
What Happened to Civitai Red?
Civitai Red launched as the adult-content site in the April 2026 split. The announcement calls it the "freedom-first front door," and says it uses crypto payments. Civitai's own 16 April update says the launch was bumpy, and its 6 October 2026 article describes changes to each site's terms.
Are There Any Alternatives Now That Civitai No Longer Allows Free NSFW Generation?
Yes, but none of them fully opens the door to adult work. Civitai says NSFW generation on Red needs a Membership. Tensor.Art discourages NSFW, PixAI keeps it private, and HackAIGC permits fictional adult content under its terms. Local software has no platform policy.
Can You Share NSFW Images Made on Civitai on Reddit?
Civitai's April 2026 announcement does not cover Reddit sharing. Reddit allows content marked NSFW, and each subreddit sets its own rules, so read the community's rules before you post. Our guide on where to post uncensored AI art compares platform rules, including Reddit's.
Can Civitai Models and LoRAs Be Used on Other Platforms?
Often yes. Civitai documents an API for downloading models, and ComfyUI and AUTOMATIC1111 load LoRAs locally. Hosted platforms set their own limits: Mage.space caps LoRAs by plan, and PixAI allows 5 to 15 per task. HackAIGC does not support LoRA uploads yet. Check each file's license and format before you use it elsewhere.
Do Civitai Alternatives Need a Powerful GPU?
Hosted platforms such as HackAIGC, Tensor.Art, PixAI and Mage.space run in the cloud, so you need no graphics card. Local tools do. AUTOMATIC1111 says inference works on a 4GB card, and ComfyUI recommends an NVIDIA or AMD GPU on Windows. ComfyUI's page says it can run large open source models on as low as 4GB of VRAM and 8GB of RAM.
Do You Need a Separate Account for civitai.red?
No. Civitai's announcement says "One account, both domains." The same login works on civitai.com and civitai.red. Some purchases differ by site, though. Memberships can only be bought on civitai.com for now, and Yellow Buzz is bought with crypto and lives on Red. Check which currency a purchase uses before you pay.
Is It Safe to Download Models From Civitai?
File format is the main risk. Hugging Face's documentation warns of "dangerous arbitrary code execution attacks" when you load a pickle file. It describes safetensors as a format "for storing tensors safely (as opposed to pickle)." So prefer safetensors files and download from creators you trust. Keep your software updated. Civitai's guide says a model page with both formats shows the .safetensors file first.
