Best AI Boyfriend Apps in 2026: 7 Apps Compared (Free, Paid and Uncensored)
Last checked: 5 October 2026.
The best AI boyfriend app depends on what you want to pay and what you want the character to do. Replika and Character.AI list free chat, Kindroid and Nomi add voice and memory, and HackAIGC covers uncensored chat, images and video on one-time credit payments. This guide compares seven apps on price, free plans, billing terms and content rules, using each company's own pages checked on 5 October 2026.
Verdict: Pick Replika or Character.AI if you want free text chat. Pick Kindroid if you want voice calls and long-term memory and don't mind paying a monthly fee. Pick HackAIGC if you want uncensored chat plus images and video without an auto-renewing subscription. HackAIGC publishes this post and is listed first because it's our product, not because it wins every row.
Prices change often, so check the linked page before you pay. We name the date we checked each fact in the section where it appears.
What Is an AI Boyfriend App and How Do You Get One?
An AI boyfriend app is a chatbot that plays a male companion in conversation, and some versions add voice, images or video. You get one by creating an account, setting up or choosing a character and picking a plan. Most apps start with a free tier or a trial.
Apps differ in what comes with the account. Nomi lists voice chats and selfies, Candy AI lists companion creation and voice, and HackAIGC adds image and video to chat. Those lists come from each company's own pages, not from our testing.
Before you sign up, check four things: the age rule, the free plan's limits, automatic renewal and refunds. The reviews below answer those four for each app, and the tables show them side by side.
How Did We Compare These AI Boyfriend Apps?
We compared the apps by reading each company's published pricing, help and policy pages. We logged every claim with its source and the date we checked it. We did not run hands-on tests, so this guide makes no claims about how any app feels in conversation.
Five criteria decided what went into each review. Price covers the plan prices the company publishes, including what a free plan allows.
Billing covers whether a plan renews automatically and what the page says about refunds. Features cover voice, memory, images and video, but only where the company's own page lists them. Content rules cover what each company says about adult content and age limits. Privacy covers what the company states about who can read your chats.
Where a page doesn't state something, we write "not published" instead of guessing. That affects Replika's price and Nastia's billing terms, so you'll see those labels below.
How we checked this: we read the pages below between 2 and 5 October 2026. They were HackAIGC's pricing page, Kindroid's subscriptions documentation and Candy AI's subscriptions page and FAQ. We also read Nomi's home page, cancellation policy and terms, plus Replika's help center.
For Character.AI we used the lite FAQ, the subscribe page and the under-18 announcement, and for Nastia its comparison page. The Replika fine comes from a Federprivacy report because we couldn't open the regulator's page. If a company changes a price after that date, the company's page is the source to trust.
Takeaway: a missing price in this guide means the company doesn't publish it on the pages we read, not that the app is free.
How Do the 7 Apps Compare on Price and Features?
HackAIGC, Nomi, Kindroid, Candy AI, Nastia, Replika and Character.AI differ most on billing and on how much chat you get for free. The table shows what each company publishes, with the details in the reviews that follow.
App | Paid price listed | Free option | Billing | Content stance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
HackAIGC | Plus $20, Pro $50, Max $100 | 6 requests a day, no card | One-time payment, no auto-renewal | Uncensored, with banned categories |
Nomi | $15.99 a month, or $99.99 a year | Free to start, no card | Auto-renewing | "Unfiltered and uncensored" |
Kindroid | Standard $13.99 a month on web | 50-message preview | Card-required trial that auto-converts | NSFW and erotic roleplay welcome |
Candy AI | $13.99 a month ($9.99 first month), or $47.88 for 12 months | None listed | Renews automatically | Uncensored fantasy, per its guidelines |
Nastia | From $6.69 a month | Free plan, unlimited time | Not published | Uncensored NSFW chat |
Replika | Shown in the app only | Free chat | Not published | Relationship status on Pro |
c.ai lite from $4.99 a month | Free messaging | Renews automatically | Open-ended chat ended for under-18s |
What Are the Best AI Boyfriend Apps in 2026?
The seven apps below are the five named in Google's AI Overview for this search, plus HackAIGC and Nastia. Each review lists what the company publishes, then a "Best for" line. We use one name per app throughout.
1. HackAIGC: Uncensored Chat, Image and Video on One-Time Credits
HackAIGC supports boyfriend characters in its uncensored chat, and the same account also generates images and video. Chat, image and video draw from one shared pool of credits, so one plan covers all three.
The free Starter plan allows 6 requests a day and needs no card. Paid plans are Plus at $20 for 3,000 credits, Pro at $50 for 8,300 and Max at $100 for 18,000. All three are listed on the HackAIGC pricing page. The page labels each purchase a "one-time payment, no auto-renewal," so nothing renews unless you buy again.
Credits are valid for one month, and unused credits don't roll over. By our math, Max costs about $0.0056 a credit against $0.0067 for Plus. Larger plans cost less per credit if you use them within the month. HackAIGC accepts credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto. Its pricing FAQ says refunds are handled case by case through support, so don't expect an automatic refund.
On privacy, HackAIGC's privacy policy says, "We do not store or log your AI chat conversations." That is the company's own statement. We have not audited it.
The terms require users to be 18 or older. They ban content involving minors, real people, non-consent, incest, bestiality and sexual violence, and they allow commercial use of outputs, subject to applicable law. HackAIGC doesn't publish which AI models it runs or how many credits an image or video costs, so we can't compare those.
Best for: adults who want uncensored chat plus image and video on one-time payments. Skip it if you want a company that publishes its model list and per-image credit cost.
2. Nomi: Memory and Voice, Free to Start
Nomi lets you start free with no card. The company describes the app as built on freedom of expression and calls it "unfiltered and uncensored."
Nomi's site lists short, medium and long-term memory, voice chats and calls, selfies and group chats.
Nomi's in-app subscription page shows $15.99 a month, $39.99 every three months ($13.33 a month) or $99.99 a year ($8.33 a month). By our math, the yearly plan costs $91.89 less than twelve monthly payments. The same page lists unlimited voice chat and calls and up to 10 active group chats for subscribers. Nomi's cancellation policy says subscriptions renew automatically and that refunds aren't provided for unused time, partial months or dissatisfaction. Its terms of service bar anyone under 18.
Best for: people who want a long-running companion with voice and memory and who accept an auto-renewing plan with no refunds for unused time. Skip it if you want a refund option.
3. Kindroid: Voice, Video and Memory Behind a Card-Required Trial
Kindroid publishes the most detailed pricing of the seven (documentation updated 4 October 2026). Standard costs $13.99 a month on the web and $15.99 a month in the app. Quarterly is $37.99 on the web and $42.99 in the app, and yearly is $139.99 on the web and $159.99 in the app. By our math, the yearly web price is $27.89 less than twelve monthly payments of $13.99.
Ultra and MAX are monthly add-ons on top of Standard. Ultra is $24.99 a month on the web, which makes $38.98 in total with Standard, and $28.99 in the app. MAX is $59.99 on the web, which makes $98.97 in total with Standard and Ultra, and $68.99 in the app.
A new account gets a preview of 50 messages (15 in some regions), 5 selfies, 5,000 audio characters and up to 2 Kindroids. The 3-day premium trial needs payment information and converts to a paid plan automatically, so set a reminder if you only want to try it.
Kindroid's site lists voice and video calls, long-term memory and group chats. On privacy, Kindroid says its support team can't read your chats and that it doesn't sell your data. Its moderation guidelines (updated 15 August 2026) say NSFW content and erotic roleplay "are welcome on Kindroid," and they bar sexual content involving minors.
Best for: people who want voice and video calls with memory and will pay a monthly fee. Skip it if you want to test without entering a card.
4. Candy AI: Characters, Images and Video on Auto-Renewing Plans
Candy AI lists AI boyfriend characters, companion creation, voice, images and video, and it sells monthly, quarterly and annual plans. One month costs $13.99 after a $9.99 first month. Three months cost $26.97 ($8.99 a month), and twelve months cost $47.88 ($3.99 a month). Twelve monthly payments at $13.99 would total $167.88, so the long plan saves $120 if you stay the full year.
The twelve-month price is marked "70% off," which looks like a promotion, so check it on the day you buy. Plans include 100 tokens a month. The page also lists biweekly and weekly payment options. It says "cancel any time" and "renews automatically for the same price and term."
Candy AI's FAQ says it accepts Visa, MasterCard and crypto. Its subscriptions page says the charge shows as "EverAI" on your bank statement. Knowing the billing name saves a confusing moment when the statement arrives. The company describes "immersive, uncensored fantasy experiences" that follow its Community Guidelines.
We did not find a free plan on the subscriptions page.
Best for: people who want a character-creation app with images and video and who will commit to a long plan for the lower monthly rate. Skip it if you want a free tier or dislike automatic renewal.
5. Nastia: Low Entry Price, Mostly Female Companions
Nastia advertises paid plans from $6.69 a month, which include uncensored images and voice messages. It describes its free plan as "unlimited time, private & uncensored NSFW chats."
The page features mostly female characters, though it lists AI boyfriend as a use case. The choice of male characters may be narrower than at other apps. The page doesn't spell out renewal or refund terms. It links to a refund policy and a cancellation page in its footer, which we didn't read, so check both before you pay.
Best for: people who want a low starting price ($6.69 a month) and don't need a wide choice of male characters. Skip it if you need billing terms before you subscribe.
6. Replika: Free Chat, Relationship Features Behind Pro
Replika says chatting is always free. Paid tiers add features, and its subscription help page says Pro includes a "relationship status", along with voice messaging and selfies. Ultra and Platinum sit above Pro.
Replika doesn't list prices on its help pages. Its subscription help article says the cost is shown in the app on the subscription screens and in the relevant store, so we don't quote a figure. Check the price in the app before you upgrade.
If you're thinking of leaving Replika, HackAIGC's Replika alternative guide compares other options. Replika's regulatory history is in the safety section below.
Best for: people who want free text chat from a long-established app. Skip it if you need to see paid prices before you download.
7. Character.AI: Free Messaging, No Open-Ended Chat for Under-18s
Character.AI offers free messaging with no message cap, and its free plan includes 15 memory pins. The lite plan starts at $4.99 a month, and the price varies by region (lite FAQ updated 18 September 2026).
The c.ai+ plan is $94.99 a year on its subscribe page, shown against a crossed-out $119.88. Plans renew automatically, and you cancel in your settings.
Character.AI announced on 29 October 2025 that it would end open-ended chat for users under 18 by 25 November 2025. It said it built age assurance in-house and uses Persona.
We could not read Character.AI's community guidelines, so we don't describe how it treats adult content. Check them before you choose it for romantic chat.
Best for: adults who want a large free tier for text chat. Skip it if you want to confirm the adult-content rules from a source we could read.
What Do Free Plans Include, and What Costs Extra?
No app on this list is free with every feature unlocked. Replika, Character.AI and Nastia describe free chat without a stated cap, while HackAIGC and Kindroid cap requests or messages until you pay.
What you want | Free option | What you pay for |
|---|---|---|
Text chat only | Replika, Character.AI, Nastia | Relationship status, voice and selfies (Replika); lite from $4.99 a month (Character.AI) |
Chat, images and video | HackAIGC: 6 requests a day | Credits from $20, one-time |
Voice and memory | Kindroid: 50-message preview | Standard from $13.99 a month on web |
A free trial | Nomi: free to start | Subscription from $15.99 a month |
"Free" means different things here. Kindroid's trial needs a card and renews on its own. HackAIGC's free plan needs no card, and so does Nomi's. Candy AI's subscriptions page lists no free plan. For more options, see HackAIGC's guide to free AI companions without a subscription.
Uncensored chat is a separate question from price. HackAIGC, Nomi, Candy AI and Nastia describe their own apps as uncensored or unfiltered. We found no independent test that ranks them, so each claim is the company's own. Kindroid's guidelines also welcome NSFW content and erotic roleplay.
Takeaway: free plans cap something, so compare what they cap before you compare prices.
How Do the Billing Models Differ?
The seven apps fall into three billing groups: one-time payment, automatic renewal and not stated. HackAIGC is the only app in the first group that we could confirm from its own page.
Nomi, Candy AI and Character.AI say their plans renew automatically, and Kindroid's free trial converts to a paid plan if you don't cancel. Nastia and Replika don't state renewal terms in the pages we checked, so assume nothing until you see the checkout screen.
Refund wording also varies. Nomi says it gives no refunds for unused time, partial months or dissatisfaction, and HackAIGC says refunds are handled case by case through support. We found no refund policy for Candy AI, Kindroid or Character.AI on the pages we read. Candy AI and Character.AI say you can cancel any time.
What Safety Checks Matter Before You Sign Up?
An AI boyfriend app is as safe as its age rules, data policy and billing terms. Regulators have already acted on one app on this list, so check all three before you share anything personal.
Italy's data protection authority, the Garante, fined the company behind Replika EUR 5 million in a decision dated 22 May 2025, as reported by Federprivacy. The report lists three problems: no legal basis for processing data, a deficient privacy notice and no age verification as of 2 February 2023. We couldn't open the Garante's own page, so we cite the report. You can check those three things yourself at any app. Ask why it handles your data, whether its privacy notice is readable and whether it verifies age.
Character.AI changed its age rules instead. Its October 2025 announcement ended open-ended chat for under-18 users.
Three checks take a few minutes:
Age rules: HackAIGC's terms require users to be 18 or older, and Nomi's terms bar anyone under 18. Confirm the rule on the app's terms page.
Data policy: Kindroid says its support team can't read your chats, and HackAIGC's privacy policy says it doesn't store or log chat conversations. Those are company statements, not audits.
Billing: Nomi gives no refunds for unused time, Candy AI charges appear as "EverAI," and Kindroid's trial converts to a paid plan. Read the cancellation terms before you enter a card.
HackAIGC's privacy guide for AI companions documents what AI companion services collect. Its NSFW AI safety guide covers anonymous use and data protection.
Which App Fits Your Situation?
Match the app to the one thing you need most, then check the price on the company's page.
If you want | Look at | Because the company's page says |
|---|---|---|
Free text chat | Replika, Character.AI | Chat is always free (Replika); messaging is free (Character.AI) |
Voice and video calls | Kindroid | The site lists voice and video calls and long-term memory |
Images and video in one account | HackAIGC, Candy AI | Both list image and video generation |
The lowest listed start price | Candy AI, Character.AI | $3.99 a month on a 12-month plan; lite from $4.99 a month |
No auto-renewal | HackAIGC | Payments are one-time with no auto-renewal |
Verdict: Which AI Boyfriend App Should You Choose?
Choose by the feature you won't give up. Free text chat points to Replika, Character.AI or Nastia, and Character.AI's guidelines need a read first. Voice calls and memory point to Kindroid ($13.99 a month on the web) or Nomi ($15.99 a month). Uncensored chat with images and video on one-time payments points to HackAIGC.
Next step: open the pricing page of your top pick, read the renewal and refund lines, and start on the free tier if one exists.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is an AI Boyfriend App Safe?
It can be, if you check the age rules, the data policy and the billing terms first. A regulator fined Replika's company EUR 5 million in 2025, and Character.AI ended open-ended chat for under-18s. Read each company's privacy policy and cancellation terms before you share personal details or add a card. The safety section above lists specific checks.

None is free with every feature. Replika, Character.AI and Nastia describe free chat without a stated cap. HackAIGC gives 6 free requests a day across chat, image and video. Kindroid gives a 50-message preview, and Nomi is free to start. Free plans cap requests, messages or features, so check what you lose before you rely on one.
Which AI Is the Most Unrestricted?
No independent test ranks them. HackAIGC, Nomi, Candy AI and Nastia each describe their own apps as uncensored or unfiltered, so those are company claims. Rules still apply. HackAIGC bans content involving minors, real people, non-consent, incest, bestiality and sexual violence. Candy AI says its fantasy content follows its Community Guidelines.
Is There a Free Version of Replika?
Yes. Replika's help center says chatting is always free. Paid tiers add extras, and the subscription help page lists a "relationship status", plus voice messaging and selfies, under Pro. Replika shows prices inside the app, so check there before you upgrade.
